1. New Owner of the Land on Carr Green Lane Invites Community's Opinion for Suitable Uses

As you may have read in our News Section, the land at Carr Green Lane opposite the Tennis Club was re-sold at auction on 21st February 2008.

The new owner is a local man, Colin Peel who we were delighted to meet when he attended our June meeting along with daughters Harriet & Elizabeth.

Mr. Peel said he would welcome ideas from the community as to how the land might be used in the future.

Initially, the land is being turned in to a temporary car park for the Carr Green School staff for their use during the current major refurbishment of the school. (More in News Section)

Thanks were expressed to Colin for his obvious wish to keep the land use appropriate to the area, and for his willingness to consider the community's opinions in his plans.

Suggestions put forward at the meeting were:

  • Getting together with Carr Green School to involve the pupils in the project
  • A wild meadow
  • A Sensory Garden for use by the children at Highbury School
  • A new Health Centre (perhaps this one was a little tongue in cheek!)

Please let us know what YOU think, via this site .... thank you.

2. Community Plan - Please Let Us Know YOUR Views

What is a Community Plan and Why Do We Need One?

A plan sets out the vision which the local community has agreed.

It focuses attention on what needs to be done in order to achieve that vision.

It serves to inform local government and other service providers of the community's needs, wishes and aspirations.

We drafted a provisional Community Plan in February 2007, with a copy put in Rastrick Library for comment. You can access it in our Documents Section.

We then conducted a survey in December 2007, so that everyone would get the chance to have their views incorporated.

We now wish to invite everyone's input once again. If you did not receive /complete the survey, this is another opportunity to have your say!

We hope to present the updated and revised Community Plan on our group stand at our 'Party In The Park' event in August.

Please Contact Us with your comments ... thank you.
