5 Jun 2008 - New Carr Green Lane Landowner Invites Community Input

The new landowner of the land opposite the Tennis Club, over which out group originally came together to prevent unsuitable development, is Colin Peel - a local man who lives in Brighouse with his wife and four children.

Colin attended the group meeting to express his wish to support the local community, and has invited suggestions for how the land might be put to use in the future - see 'Your Views Invited' section for more.

In the meantime, the land is being turned in to a temporary staff car park for Carr Green School, whilst its major refurbishment takes place. Headteacher Lesley Bowyer had been very concerned about staff cars adding to the congestion and pedestrian safety issues on Carr Green Lane. Thanks to Mr. Peel, staff will now be able to use this land instead.

The land will be made secure outside of school hours to prevent unauthorised use.

Colin has also kindly offered the temporary car park to be used by stall holders and officials at our 'Party In The Park' event on 31st August, which will again be a huge help in alleviating congestion on Carr Green Lane and around the estate, as well as making it much easier for people involved to have a suitable and convenient place to leave their vehicles which is not too far away from the park.
