15 May 2008 - Proposed Relocation of Rastrick Health Centre

Proposed Closure of Rastrick Health Centre at Chapel Croft

Rastrick has had its Post Office closed, we have had bus services withdrawn and now it's proposed that the Rastrick Health Centre is re-sited in Brighouse town centre.

Presentations have been made on 14th/15th May by the Calderdale Primary Care trust about these proposals.

The group perceives that feeling amongst our community is NOT against the creation of a Primary Care Centre in itself – but to it being built AT THE EXPENSE OF Rastrick Health Centre.

Therefore we are strongly supporting the call against this move, and hope to rally as many of our community as possible to make their voices heard.

As this issue affects a wider area than our own, we will also be inviting other Rastrick community groups to join us in our campaign.

Our three Ward Councillors have all pledged their support in fighting to keep the Rastrick Health Centre where it is. Councillor Ann McAllister will personally present a petition calling for this. At present, we don’t know how long the petition will be kept open. However, we can safely say that the more signatures we have, and the sooner we have them - the better.

Here's how you can help :

  • Join the protest against removing services from Rastrick on Wednesday 28th, 2pm, Crowtrees Village Green (see Diary dates for more details). Inform others about the protest. Put up posters about the protest (download from our Documents section.)
  • Help collect signatures for the petition from those you know, by placing them in pubs, shops, hairdressers, work places etc ... or by going door to door. (Blank forms can be downloaded from the Documents section on this site.) Return them to our group, the Pharmacy at the Health Centre or to David Stevenson of 'Rastrick Cares' whose contact details are on the forms.
  • Come to our meetings (next one 4th June - see Diary Dates for more details) and get involved in our efforts to improve the environment, facilities and prospects of our area. Inform others about the meeting and put up posters (Documents section)
