1. Meeting Update 6th June 2007

UPDATE : SUMMER 2007

Here are the main things discussed / decided at our meeting on 6th June :

Carr Green & Crowtrees Community Plan : This is the plan we are putting together to set down the vision of we want as a community, so that we can work together towards achieving it.  A provisional Plan is available for all to see at Rastrick Library. We want everyone to have the chance to contribute to it, so a survey has been drawn up to go out to all households. We're currently trying to get funding for the survey, unfortunately a slower process than we'd hoped. Everyone in the area will receive a survey as soon as possible.

Playground at Carr Green Recreation Ground : A new Playground is being planned to replace the existing one at Carr Green. If you’d like to have your say in which designs are used, please attend the meeting with Calderdale’s Playground Manager, Chris Holroyd on Saturday 14th July, 10 till 12noon at the playground.

Cycle Track at Carr Green Recreation Ground : Plans for a cycle track for tots to pre-teens have been drawn up, and we are in the process of applying for grant for it to be built in addition to the playground. These plans will also be available to see and to comment on, at the above meeting on 14th July.

Child Protection : In line with government recommendations, our group adopted a Child Protection Policy and elected a Child Protection Officer. A copy can be viewed at Rastrick Library.

Rastrick Police Forum : Our group’s representatives reported back from the two Police Forum meetings they’d attended since our last meeting. Dominant issue was the concern about the large gatherings of youths we are experiencing locally, their access to alcohol, and the disturbance and vandalism resulting. Police are aware of this and are increasing patrols, and have requested that they are kept informed about any incidents. Tom Caselton has agreed to collate information about situations not requiring direct police response. If you have concerns / incidents to report, contact him on tom@tcaselton.fsworld.co.uk, or via the chair (as above), or at group meetings.

It was noted that the majority of young people do not pose a problem and also that increasing facilities for young people in our area would be a positive way to address this issue. As a result, we're inviting pre-teens/teenagers to our next meeting to tell us what facilities they’d like to see.

Tidy-up at Jumble Dyke / Crowtrees Lane : Continued concern over a piece of land used as a short cut between Tofts Grove andCrowtrees Lane becoming a real eyesore resulted in the group deciding to tidy the land ourselves. This will happen on Sunday 8th July, 2pm, meeting at St. Matthew’s Parish Centre. All welcome to come and help.

Crowtrees Village Green : Calderdale Highways has officially objected to the village green proposal. Decision from the Council’s legal department re. the application is still pending. Our group re-affirmed its support for the Village Green to go ahead. The main benefit is that it's the best way to ensure the land isn't used to site a mobile phone mast.

Carr Green Lane Developer’s Appeal : An appeal has been lodged against refusal of planning permission for seven houses on Carr Green lane Opposite the Tennis Club. Our group continues to strongly object to the proposal primarily on the grounds of it being too close to the cemetery, and bringing unnecessary additional traffic to an already problematic area. A working party was elected to come up with a group response to the appeal by the deadline 28th June, and to take any other action it felt necessary. The resulting group response is now complete and has been submitted to the Planning Inspectorate, and is available for all to view at Rastrick Library.
